ECO DEL BARRANCO

D.O.Ca. Rioja

El Barranco is a prized vineyard of Graciano vines, planted as bush vines in 1940 on a south-facing slope characterized by poor, sandy soil strewn with rounded pebbles. Following a nocturnal manual harvest with vine-by-vine selection, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks and 500-liter open-top French oak barrels, with daily pump-overs. The winemaking philosophy follows a minimal-intervention approach, featuring malolactic fermentation in barrels and two rackings per year—retaining the lees to add volume—before a final period of refinement in the bottle.

Tasting Notes

In the glass, it displays an intense, clean, and brilliant ruby-red color. On the nose, it is explosive, showcasing an excellent combination of black fruit, spices, prunes, and dates, complemented by notes of clove, dark chocolate, and toffee. On the palate, it is structured, rich, and balanced, offering a high concentration of ripe tannins and a long, complex finish—reminiscent of black fruit and spices—that lingers on the palate.
